so Unrelated but is Circe's future partner a shiny Latias?? :0 if so, can i have a tid bit of lore if that doesnt involve any spoilers? :D

Been working on this like a mad man to condense it, the first draft was way too long XD

Okay for for context, Citrine is a shiny Latias that will eventually become Circe’s partner down the road. This was based off the fact when I was shiny hunting Mewtwo, I couldn’t find it in the wormholes in USUM, but I did find Latias! So I took a break to shiny hunt her instead. I found her 7000 encounters in and then found Circe 2-3k encounters later after finally tracking her down X3

The two girlies are a sapphic couple, they won’t adopt or have any kidlets, but will be the type of aunts that show up to family events, spoil the niece’s and nephew’s, then dip after hyping them up on sugar.

Some old art I made of them a while back for visual enjoyment, but onto to explaining for how Lati’s work in this world and where Citrine and Circe come into play amongst it!

Lati’s are a companion based species, requiring a partner to survive whether platonic or romantic. Otherwise they are known to decline both physically and mentally, eventually perishing from loneliness. They also require a partner to reproduce, however both genders can lay egg making the sex of the Lati companions irrelevant. Due to being hunted by humans and predators alike, as well as Latias’s bright red colouring making it easier to spot has greatly reduced the number of their population. Causing even more to die from being unable to locate a partner, resulting in their very culturally strict mating/breeding habits.

Lati’s often pair up into larger pods in order to ensure survival of their chicks, of which are always guaranteed to be twins! However, if a Lati couple fails to produce two living, healthy kits they will be ejected from the pod. This is because:

1) They fear the miscarry was a genetic flaw and will be carried down by the chicks.

2) It causes an uneven of Lati’s, guaranteeing it or another will struggle to find a companion.

Ejecting the family removes the threat of tainting the gene pool and prevents a guaranteed uneven spread of Lati’s! As while more chicks can still die from illness, hunting, or accidents, it’s not a guarantee. The pods do everything in their power to prevent it, given to reproduce its required to have 2 Lati’s of which can only produce 2 chicks in their entire lifetime. Making uneven numbers very dangerous! Since every pair can only reproduce once.

Ejecting a family is treated as a death sentence, as often without the assistance of the pod it becomes difficult to raise and care for the chicks. The parents splitting up as one cares for the babies and the other provides. However if one parent is ever picked off by predators, it forces the remaining parent to risk leaving the chicks alone. All accumulating to a higher chance of the family perishing all together.

So how does this all affect the gals? Well, Citrine is shiny, that’s a problem for Lati’s.

Shiny’s in my story, by admittedly accident, usually spell a bad omen or follow up a tradegy, a death, or a life altering event. Citrine continues this trend.

She was born alongside her twin brother we’ll just call Latios for now. Latios was a normal, non shiny Lati, while Citrine was bright gold/yellow. Upon their pod seeing this, her family was ejected from the pod and forced to live on their own. Her parents did not abandon her and happily, albeit struggling, raised her and her twin brother despite the HEAVY judgement from other pods. Given Shinys were ejected not because of any inherent defects, but rather because they were infertile.

Shiny Lati’s cannot produce offspring, and given it takes two Lati’s to make a kiddo, if one can’t contribute their side of the equation, their partner can’t have the chicks either. They are not asexual reducers and require the both partners to be fertile!

So upon seeing Citrine was a shiny Latias, her family was ejected due to the guaranteed inability for her to pair up. And whilst her family did successfully raise both her and her brother to adulthood. Even in lone Lati’s search for companions, no one will take a shiny. Which is a shame, give shinies are often larger, bulkier, more powerful, and their colors help them blend in BETTER then normal Latias’s especially. Latios’s stay generally the same with colour camp shiny or otherwise. So despite this, Citrine has a very good chance at surviving on her own!

If dying slowly from loneliness and depression was a thing.

Cue Circe.

Circe finds Citrine very much on her last legs, the will to move or find food is all, but gone. So she’s wasting away on a cliff face near an ocean. Circe, a shiny herself and having 0 concept of Lati’s or most Pokémon for that matter, helps her and slowly nurses her back to health. Her disregard for shinies, their status in the general population, and genuinely caring for Citrine as she is and not what she is ends up being the first time she ever has someone really look beyond her colours. Breaking out of a toxic mindset her species imprinted on her due to fear and desperation to keep their species alive in the first place.

From there it’s a very classic lesbian love story. No one confesses for 8 years and eventually they realize their “friendship” is very, very, very, very much not a friendship anymore and hasn’t been for a while ;]

Rutlians are a unique species of tiny reptiles of the wyvern category with four known species across Tramea. The members of this family are best known for their glowing scales, being capable of distracting predators and attracting mates with their bright colors. Rutlians have diverse diets differing from each species, but all are capable of eating insects even if its less common for a certain species. The largest rutlian (Fern-winged Rutlian) is only around the size of an adult daemos hand (around eight inches), but smaller species can fit within the palm of a daemos’ hand with room to spare. Rutlians tend to lay their eggs in areas with abundant sources of food, to give their offspring the best shot at survival. If a rutlian is in a colony, it’s colony will consist of rutlians it hatched alongside. Other rutlians are more solitary, only meeting up with other rutlians to fight or mate.

The rutlian pictured is a Burning Rutlian, one of the smallest species of rutlian and named after its bright orangeish-yellow glow resembling that of a fire. These are the most common species of rutlian and are found all over northern Tramea during the spring and summer months. Burning Rutlians are migratory and extremely social, traveling in massive colonies with hundreds and maybe even thousands of members, and during early autumn they may even travel by the millions. Burning rutlians migrate when autumn begins, moving south towards the equator for warmer weather and most importantly, blooming flora.

A burning rutlian’s diet consists almost completely of nectar due to nectar’s high sugar content which aids greatly with the rutlian’s quick metabolism. Burning rutlians apon finding a flower with good nectar content, hilariously stuff their heads inside the flower to lap up any sweet liquid present with their long sticky tongues. This action also benefits the flower. When lapping up nectar, the burning rutlians face including its nostrils will catch pollen that gets carried around as the rutlian zips between flowers. Pollen is irritating to the burning rutlian’s nasal passage, and is excreted by sneezing, which spreads the pollen. Pollen is also distributed when this rutlian gathers nectar from other flowers, rubbing the pollen against the inside.

Like all rutlians, burning rutlians stop glowing when resting to stay hidden from predators while they sleep. When resting, burning rutlians will take refuge high in the trees or at the bottom of tall grass. When they are startled, a burning rutlian will take off and flash it’s scales brightly which signals to other rutlians that there is potential danger. In response, the colony will ignite and take off in all directions which should frighten and confuse the danger. If it doesn't do so, the burning rutlian’s speed and agility will uninterest the danger. Sometimes a burning rutlian will be in the middle of gathering nectar as the evacuation happens, leaving them as easy prey for creatures such as cockatrices if they are careful enough.

The migration of burning rutlians is a dazzling sight that's better viewed in rural areas, signaling prosperity for crops and the end of the harsh winters the daemos deal with every year.

Honestly the daemos don't really have a use for rutlians at all other than to just like maybe look at them. But they are important because they pollinate flowers and shi so that's cool. The art took me like an hour and I gave up on the bg 😍

Oh uh also rutlian means glow in like Latin or something I forgor I use a mixture of Latin, ancient Greek, old Norse, and stuff I pull out of my ass to name things in this world idk I'm literally that meme with patrick attaching a plank of wood to his head when it comes with names

I wasn't planning on doing this until next Munday but I couldn't help myself-the idea of cute lil hatchling Lati-Scorbunny hybrids was too cute! So: Here they are!

Being little baby hatchlings, they still have downy feathers-and it's impossible to tell if they'll be a Latias or Latios, even if Dusk looks more Latias! Dusk leans more Lati, including a more beak-like mouth. Though they actually have ear indents! The ear fluff merges like Freyja's. I'd imagine they enjoy hopping around and trying to fly. Perhaps Freyja would teach them? Meanwhile, Dawn leans more Scorbunny-though they still have wings instead of little paws like Scorbunny do. And surprise: Dawn is Shiny! The shiny colors are a combo between Mega Lati's and Scorbunny's, since it's a combo of Shiny Latias and Latios. Dawn likes to kick stones around, and I like to imagine Dusk likes to try and catch the stones in their mouth!

When they grow up, they'll gain their proper coloration of either orangey-red or more greenish red for Dusk, and a nice bright yellow or yellowish green for Dawn!

You're free to take these two cuties if you so please! If you don't I might take them myself lmao, I love these two so much... I can't separate them!

i actually think the S+A tier speak for themselves?

S tier: the goats. im aware its full of third versions but they just happen to be extremely good and added some insane shit to already solid base games (ok diamond and pearl werent solid but the foundation was there). replayability is insane for these.

A tier: the Oh Fuck Yeah games. not in any particular order actually. hgss is absolutely the best remake of all, only held back by the few inherent flaws of the Johto region and by not emulating Crystal enough. as much as i like bw, reverting back to only one region of pokemon never sat right by me, but it's been a while since ive played it, and nowadays i make much more of an effort to try out all new mons. so i could change my mind on this.

i liked usum more than sun/moon, if only for the post game. replayability isnt as high because of the cutscenes every 3 steps, and rotom dex is annoying as shit. aside from that, insanely solid story & postgame imo. red/blue and gold/silver are brimming with weird places in their regions and are chock full of in game lore and legends, which i really like. the ruins of alph & pokemon tower are some of the best locations theyve ever made imo

B tier is the "good but couldve been better" tier. lets go is insane for shiny hunting, but it stops at that imo. the new rival is garbo. sun and moon are good, but the postgame + alola in general is just lacking enough in these games that they dont reach A tier for me. loveeed the island challenges tho. alola itself has just such a good vibe. you really feel like its about community rather than competition. legends arceus couldve been insanely good, but i have never felt as ripped out of a pokemon game as i did when i walked through that cave in the coronet region and started seeing stray pixels around my character. which wasnt a one time thing btw this happens to anyones game & every time as far as ive seen. its gonna sound dramatic but this combined with other graphics glitches made it so clear i was playing a game that it just took me out of the adventure entirely. this is where the graphics glitches really started, and they havent stopped since.

C tier: yellow is just kinda there? i dont care for starter pikachu. i want to, but it gets killed when breathed at, so. idk. the gimmick doesnt work that well for me. sword and shield introduced some insane mons that i love and i want to call it solid real bad, but the story was hot garbage even for pokemon standards, and while the wild area was a great idea, the execution was lacking & because what i assume is a time crunch, the towns were boring as shit as well. diamond & pearl are mediocre to bad, with a great story and mediocre to bad execution, and i shouldve put oras in the :( tier, but the postgame is worth it.

actually im gonna rant about oras. i was so hyped for it but, just, ugh. if youre gonna turn a 2d vague not-specified-what-a-character-is-doing-or-feeling player character to 3d, at least do it correctly. 2d sprites where someone can fill in the blanks not seen on screen but hinted at in text (ie expressions, actions like handing someone something) work infinitely better than 3d sprites who show it badly. also still suffers from the desaturation curse that the 3ds games suffer from. postgame was dope, though. shame the mega latis are ugly as shit.

SV's only redeeming factor is the area zero story. there is nothing else in the game that held my attention. fuck the star team, fuck the big pokemon quests, fuck the towns where you cant talk to anyone or find anything interesting or walk into a house and where every shop looks the game. fuck stores not even having an interior anymore. fuck this larger but emptier and stripped down world full of graphical glitches. fuck the weak ass gyms, fuck geeta, and fuck terrastalizing most of all. i will die for Koraidon & the professor fight fucking ruled but that's all the game had to it for me. do any of yall remember the gym leaders besides like, iono and the snowboard man? no you dont, stop lying to me. gen I put more life into lavender town by making a npc reference some ghost hand on your shoulder than SV does for any town, and they only had black and white 32mb cartridges or whatever to work with. for fucking shame gamefreak. give your devs some time to make a halfway functioning game.

firered and leafgreen do nothing new. i will not discuss the sevii islands. what the fuck even was that. boring. same with brilliant diamond and shining pearl. theyre lower than diamond and pearl because why the fuck did they not decide to remake platinum. what the hell was their damage. seriously platinum was RIGHT there. i caught a full odds shiny ghastly in that game and i still dont care about it.

Wheee! Been wanting to make this design for quite a while. Figured green would be a way to round out the RGB thing the Hoenn Legendaries have going on. The shiny is magenta (or more accurately, purple) to balance out the cyan Latios and yellow Latias.
